See Her Outside Podcast Episode: All Things Post-Race Blues, DNFs, and Redefining Competition

In this episode of See Her Outside, I sat down with Angie from The Cairn Project to talk about the messy middle of racing: DNFs, post-race blues, and learning to see competition as collaboration. We covered how running helped me find my footing after years abroad, what it means to hold identity and ego lightly, and why rest is just as essential as grit.

I love these kinds of conversations that aren’t polished or performative and where we talk about the not-so-pretty parts of competition and what happens when ego meets reality. While it’s scary, vulnerability has a way of helping me grow not just as an athlete, but as a human.

As I’ve grown as an ultra runner and athlete, I’ve started to crave white space, ie.  the quiet after the race, with time to reflect, recalibrate, and remember why I started in the first place. Chasing big goals is awesome, but rebuilding after a setback, redefining success, and finding your way back to joy at the starting line is just as awesome.
